This policy explains how Muslims-Life.net uses cookies and similar storage or access technologies. It also explains the choices available to you.

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, commonly called PECR, websites generally need to give clear information about cookies and obtain consent before using non-essential storage or access technologies. Strictly necessary technologies can be used without consent where the legal exception applies.

A cookie is a small piece of information stored by your browser. Websites can use cookies and similar technologies to remember choices, support security, measure website use or load services from other providers.

The same legal rules can also apply to other technologies that store or access information on your device, including local storage, tracking pixels, scripts and tags.

How Muslims Life groups these technologies

Necessary

These technologies are used for functions that are required to operate the website or provide a feature you have requested. They can include security, load balancing and the cookie that remembers your privacy choices.

Necessary technologies are always enabled because the website may not work properly without them.

Analytics

Analytics help us understand how people use Muslims Life, for example which pages are visited and how visitors reach the website. Where analytics tools are enabled, they remain optional and are set to denied by default through our consent layer until you choose to allow analytics.

Depending on the current website configuration, analytics may be provided through Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Site Kit or similar measurement tools.

External media

Some articles may contain external videos or other embedded content, including YouTube. Loading this content can allow the external provider to receive information about your device or visit. We therefore treat external media as optional and may keep it blocked until you choose to allow it.

What choices do I have?

When the consent banner appears, you can:

  • Accept all optional categories;
  • Reject non-essential technologies and continue with necessary functions only;
  • Manage choices and select categories individually.

When you make a choice, Muslims Life stores a small first-party consent record so that we can remember it on your next visit. This record is treated as necessary because its purpose is to respect and remember your privacy choice.

The consent record is currently designed to last for up to 180 days, after which we may ask you again. We may also ask again sooner if our use of cookies changes significantly.

Our theme sets Google consent signals to deny analytics and advertising storage by default. If you choose Analytics, the analytics storage signal can be updated to granted. Advertising-related consent signals remain denied unless a future feature clearly asks for that separate purpose.

Because WordPress plugins and third-party tools can change over time, we periodically review the website to make sure optional technologies respect the consent choices presented to visitors.

Embedded YouTube and other external media

Where technically supported, YouTube embeds are held back until External media is allowed. If you choose to load the video, YouTube may process information under its own terms and privacy policy.

You can revoke that permission for future page loads through Cookie settings.

Third-party websites

Clicking a normal link to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Qur’an websites, hadith databases or another external site takes you away from Muslims Life. Once you visit that provider, its own cookie and privacy practices apply.

Browser controls

You can also use your browser settings to delete or block cookies. Blocking all cookies may affect website features. Browser controls are separate from the choices stored in the Muslims Life consent panel.

Our approach is based on current UK guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office on storage and access technologies, PECR and UK GDPR transparency. The ICO’s guidance may change as legislation and regulatory guidance develop.
